Blake Equipment Warehouse Associate/Delivery Driver - East Windsor, CT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Responsible for receiving incoming stock, reviewing bills of lading and assisting with preparation of sales orders for shipment. Pick, load and deliver products in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Works with other members of the Branch staff to ensure timely, safe and efficient delivery of products to customers via delivery truck or counter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient warehouse by ensuring stock is handled and dispositioned in an organized manner
  • Prepare all shipments including pulling stock and preparation of invoices
  • Receive all incoming shipments; including inspecting for damages and auditing for accuracy
  • Put stock away in proper location after it has been received in the ERP system
  • Assist with the maintenance of inventory control and cycle counts
  • Assists with customer service as needed
  • Operate vehicle and equipment in a safe and efficient manner with courtesy and consistency
  • Keep vehicles safe and clean; provide basic maintenance per management’s direction and schedule maintenance that requires attention of third party
  • Prepare a daily delivery schedule and coordinate efficient deliveries by applying knowledge of customer schedules, peak delivery times and alternate routes
  • Safely load and unload deliveries according to size of load and content description
  • Drive safely, obeying all traffic laws
  • Ensure all delivery tickets and bills of lading are signed and submitted daily to promote efficient billing
  • Communicate with manager and fellow employees regarding daily interactions with customers
  • Follow all local and federal DOT regulations
  • Maintain legible DOT logbook and Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR); submit to Branch Manager daily
  • Administer an expense account for each trip by recording all expenses and maintaining all receipts
  • Maintains company gas card, vehicle registration and proof of insurance; also, responsible for ensuring Driver License and Medical Certificate are always current and on person while driving company vehicle
  • Performs other related duties as needed

 Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance and procedure manuals
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation
  • Completes some moderately repetitive tasks
  • Uses noncomplex machines and equipment (adding machines, calculators, copy/fax machines, etc.)
  • Acceptable MVR per Automobile Insurer guidelines; must be able to meet this requirement during annual insurance review
